Fire Emblem Heroes Introduction

Fire Emblem Heroes Fire Emblem Heroes is a tactical RPG where you summon favorite characters, form a four-hero team, and battle on an 8x6 grid in turn-based story missions. Strengthen units, weapons, and skills for rewards.

Fire Emblem Heroes

Fire Emblem Heroes is a well-known tactical role-playing game where you summon characters from the Fire Emblem Heroes universe and set off on a brand-new adventure. Build your team by selecting the heroes you want, then take on enemy forces through story stages. Battles use turn-based strategy, letting you unleash a range of skills to secure victory and earn rewarding loot.

The game also gives you several paths to strengthen your roster. You can summon new heroes, upgrade weapons and skills, raise hero levels, and use items to boost performance. Updates are ongoing as well—new characters, fresh events, and additional gameplay modes are regularly added to keep things engaging.

Gameplay

Fire Emblem Heroes is a tactical JRPG played on an 8x6 grid map. You command a squad of up to four Heroes against enemy teams of different sizes. Each unit has its own movement rules.

Movement and terrain

  • Armored units generally have more limited movement than cavalry.
  • Cavalry units can’t enter forest tiles.
  • Flying units can travel across most terrain, including tiles that other units can’t reach (such as water or mountains).

Turn structure

  • Each turn alternates in a strict cycle: Player PhaseEnemy Phase.
  • During the Player Phase, your Heroes can attack enemies within their attack range.
  • If the attacker and defender share the same range and the defender is still alive, the defender will counterattack.
  • After all your Heroes have moved and (optionally) attacked, the Enemy Phase begins and the game’s AI takes control of the opposing team.

Combat details

  • Attacks deal either physical or magical damage.
  • Units also have a color that creates a “rock-paper-scissors” style advantage system—some matchups are naturally stronger than others.

Strategy tips

Because positioning matters, your best results often come from placing units to force unfavorable matchups. Carefully route enemies and use terrain and range differences to control how fights unfold.

Deterministic battles

Unlike some other Fire Emblem entries, Fire Emblem Heroes removes battle randomness. Combat outcomes between two characters are fully predictable, and the enemy AI follows the same logic consistently—so a strategy will reliably lead to the same result each time.

Game Modes and Content

  • Story Missions: Campaign-style objectives grouped into chapters.
  • Rotating Challenge Missions: New tests that change over time.
  • Fire Emblem Heroes

  • Training Tower: Helps increase character strength through random battles.
  • Arena: Battles against other players’ teams, with enemies controlled by the game’s AI.
  • Aether Raids: Another competitive mode with special rules and challenges.
  • Brigades: Special engagements where a team of eight or more characters is used on a larger-than-usual map.
  • Additional modes and activities to keep your roster progressing.

Nintendo’s legacy meets mobile

Fire Emblem Heroes carries the spirit of classic Nintendo RPG design into mobile gameplay. Nintendo’s long-running JRPG tradition—built around memorable series and polished experiences—has been adapted for touch-friendly play, helping the franchise reach a wider audience outside traditional consoles.

A series with decades of development

The Fire Emblem franchise is more than 30 years old, with sequels continuing to expand its stories and mechanics. After adjusting the experience for mobile, Fire Emblem Heroes brings that established quality to handheld play—raising the question: does the mobile version keep the same feel as the originals? The game aims to deliver that familiar strategic depth.

Strategic turn-based battles with a large roster

In Fire Emblem Heroes, you take part in highly tactical turn-based battles using touch-optimized controls. You’re not limited to just a few protagonists—this title pulls together many characters from across the Fire Emblem world. With enough progress, you can collect a wide variety of heroes and form numerous powerful team combinations.

The story background also adds to the appeal: after a major incident in a fantasy world—and a rupture in time—new characters and iconic Fire Emblem heroes gather to fight together against a spreading darkness.
